Atlanta, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A journalist based in Georgia who was arrested on Saturday during a protest against immigration attacks was released into the care of the US immigration and customs authority (ICE).

On Wednesday morning, the Dekalb County's office confirmed that Salvadorian reporter Mario Guevara was released in ice custody. His daughter confirms the same. Prison records show that it was released shortly before 3:30 a.m.

Guevara's lawyer said on Tuesday that he had a bond on Monday because of the local charges he was suspended, but remained in the prison of Dekalb County because of a 48-hour attitude of the immigration and customs authority.

“If our position is that it did not do anything illegally and the only thing he did was to document the actions of the police. So why was he arrested?” Asked Giovanni Diaz, Guevara's lawyer.

Lawyers of a journalist based in Georgia, who was arrested on Saturday during a protest against immigration attacks in Doraville, demand his release from ICE.

Demonstrators and law enforcement agencies were able to collapse on Chamblee Tucker Road near Northcrest Road. Dekalb County police officers were on site with their tactical strength and the Georgia State Patrol.

>> o'clock: A live stream from Telemundo Atlanta, Wanf's sister station, showed the police who were concerned and used the apparently tear gas.

Eight people, including Guevara, who threatened the DEKALB authorities for “public security and non -obedient law enforcement orders” were arrested.

Guevara was accused of entering a street as a pedestrian, the law enforcement officers and the illegal assembly, and the criminal assembly Indied.

Guevara reported on livestream at the time of arrest and can be heard, as the arrest officer: “I am a member of the media”.

His lawyers argue that they can see in the video that he complied with in his arrest with civil servants.

“He did something that he has done for 20 years, there is a large amount of experience he has to do with such situations, and he never had any problems. On the contrary,” he said.

Guevara was released early Wednesday morning, but directly in ice custody. Tuesday evening, his lawyer Giovanni Diaz said, if this has happened, they are ready to fight against him and bring him home.

“We still get the bonds, we still get these cases. So we are confident that we will be successful when Mario ends up in the hands of immigration,” said Diaz.

Now his case is moving to the federal immigration court before a potential deportation procedure. Diaz says you are working on getting him on the bond.

“We used to get it in a day or two. But now because the system is overwhelmed, how overwhelmed detention centers are, how overwhelmed the judges are, it sometimes takes a week or more to plan these followers,” said Diaz.

According to our sister station Telemundo Atlanta, Guevara has been covering immigration in the United States for more than two decades.

His daughter expressed fear of what the future is doing.

“What was really terrifying was the ice cream center because we do not know what this means for us under this administration,” said Katherine Guevara.

His lawyer says he was in a work permit here and tries to get a green card.

The recent arrest created a nightmare for the family on the day of the Father's Day.

“It was terrible because I was always so close to him,” said Guevara.

“There were many other press members, I didn't count it, I wasn't there,” said Diaz. “He was the only arrested press.”

“At home doesn't feel the same without him,” added Guevara. “I want him to be by our side as soon as possible. I want him to know that we love him with all our hearts.”

Diaz 'law firm Diaz & Gaeta Law first confirmed with Atlanta News that they are working on receiving Guevara a hearing to secure his release.
