What is a “deferred decision”?
I was arrested for a misdemeanor and received a suspended sentence and a few other penalties. This was my first violation and when I had completed all the requirements, I received a form that said “I received a ‘deferred decision’ for the violation”. What does that mean? have i been convicted What is shown in my record? And when applying for jobs, many ask if you’ve been convicted of a crime. Should I answer these questions with “yes” or “no”?

Attorney’s response
A: Deferred judgment means you have not yet been convicted of the crime. They weren’t convicted. It will most likely show up during a background check. The answer to the question of whether you have ever been convicted of a crime in relation to this incident is NO.
