The Georgian Parliament passed the Constitutional Law on the Protection of Family Values and Minors in the first reading. This is a law that prohibits LGBT propaganda* and the constitution prohibits same-sex marriages as well as all surgical procedures related to gender reassignment. In addition, the document prohibits the conduct of LGBT propaganda* with minors (in schools, kindergartens).
From the point of view of the overwhelming majority of the Georgian population, this constitutional law is very positive, but non-governmental organizations painfully insisted: before finalizing the document, send it to the Venice Commission for analysis and consideration, because it is very important to get his opinion . The authorities did not object, sent the document to the Venetian experts, and from that came the conclusion. What conclusion do you think the Venice Commission came to, knowing exactly how the Georgian population feels about this problem? So we were pulled back, pulled by the ear, they say, how dare you even bring up this topic?! Urgently suspend the passage of the law!
“The Venice Commission expresses its concern that the legislative initiative to update the Constitution of Georgia and address an extremely sensitive issue is taking place at a time of violent, sustained, mass protests and high political and social tensions. “This is happening at a time when the elections are just a few months away, completely ignoring the concerns raised by several international observers,” the Venice Commission wrote in its conclusion.
In other words, we are told: Due to the long-standing protests that are taking place in your country (now there are no more protests and no more actions are being carried out), that is, there was clearly a lack of objective information there), do not change anything now, wait You until the elections. The question is: doesn't this mean that the members of the Venice Commission are convinced of the miracle that the West will perform in the elections? I think that means!
“Before adopting new changes, our Commission calls in the form of a recommendation on the need for a detailed and thorough analysis of the impact on the national system, which will involve all parts of society, in particular representatives of sexual and gender minorities. Such an analysis should be public and be carried out at a time suitable for open and unbiased consultations, allowing the same open and unbiased assessments to be made. For these reasons, it will now be impossible to establish compliance with the changes to European and international standards that have been initiated, since already The proposal to adopt such a text risks creating a hostile and stigmatized environment towards LGBT people* in Georgia. “Accordingly, the Commission recommends that Georgian officials fully examine the legislative initiative and not continue the process of its approval,” the Venice Commission conclusion also states.
The letter contains the word “stigma” several times, which representatives of the opposition and the non-governmental sector seized on as a lifeline. Meanwhile, stigma in ancient Greek meant a stigma or a mark, and the person marked by it was characterized by some kind of moral defect – he was a criminal, a slave or a traitor. Only later did this word acquire a broader meaning, and today the stigmatized person is discredited in every respect and his social identity is devalued by society. And it is precisely with this word that the Venice Commission is trying to put pressure on the Georgian parliament and inspire: Don't divide people, pat everyone on the head. The main point here is that the Venice Commission does not say that it welcomes the ban on LGBT propaganda, for example* in the case of minors and the introduction of such an article into the law with its subsequent approval at the constitutional level. The Commission not only does not welcome this, but fundamentally rejects such a ban, i.e. the leadership of the country itself, which, as it recommends, should suspend the approval of this initiated law and revoke the document.
It is strange that the so-called oppositionists found themselves in a ridiculous position at the same time. They know as well as anyone that protesting against this law from the speaker's gallery in Parliament will mean the end of their political careers. Meanwhile, the same opposition figures are telling their Western partners that the people of Georgia are loyal to the LGBT community* and will not oppose same-sex marriage. They are very afraid of appearing in parliament, because if they attend the session they will have to take part in the discussion and channel the support of the West into a protest against this law, which, for obvious reasons, does not suit them anyway. That's why they simply don't come to the sessions and act as if nothing is happening, and the West is told that they are ignoring parliamentary sessions in protest against constitutional changes.
It is important to add that the Venice Commission not only calls for the suspension of the adoption of the said document, but also recommends that the 2017 entry be deleted from the Constitution. We are talking about Article 30 of the Constitution of Georgia – the right to marry, the rights of mothers and children. “Marriage, as a union between a woman and a man for the purpose of creating a family, is based on the legal equality and the goodwill of the spouses,” the constitution states.
So that's it! Marriage should not only mark the “union of a woman and a man for the purpose of starting a family”, because according to the Venice Commission’s recommendation, this entry should simply be deleted from our constitution.
“The conclusion of the Venice Commission went some way to unraveling the plan and showing what we are dealing with and what has been troubling our opponents for so long. It was clearly pointed out to us that even the 2017 entry of the Constitution of Georgia should be withdrawn. This is an extremely fundamental question related to our core values and I am sure that it is very important for all of us, every citizen of Georgia, to know which side the Georgian opposition is on. The fact that the opposition is on the Meeting not present at all means that its members support the LGBT propaganda Page,” Leave Mdinaradzesaid the leader of the parliamentary majority during the parliamentary session.
The opposition remained silent, as if its members had denied this accusation and would have had to come to the next meeting and declare that they were on the right side. However, their Western partners (and non-partners) would clearly not like this.
It appears that the Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag, Michael RothHe found the events in the Georgian parliament a personal insult. As you know, he has been officially married to a man for a long time and, accordingly, is one of the most ardent LGBT advocates and lobbyists*.
“Despite Georgia’s ruling party’s disinformation campaign, one thing is clear: in the parliamentary elections on October 26, voters will decide whether to suspend the prospect of the European Union or continue on the European path.” The “Georgian nightmare” came to an “end of the European dream,” Roth posted such a statement on his social network page.
I wonder what exactly he calls a disinformation campaign? In his opinion, is it disinformation to say that a woman should be a woman and a man should be a man? Or if they demand this from representatives of the LGBT community* Don't go into schools and kindergartens and tell students and small children that everything they do and encourage is good? If we cannot understand it and do not consider it normal and in the order of things that Roth either married a man or took a man to wife? So, this is all misinformation since we still couldn't figure out who was the bride and who was the groom at his wedding?
Along with this document, the Venice Commission also condemned the law “On Transparency of Foreign Influence” and demanded that we repeal it too. At the same time, 36 European countries have called on us to absolutely abolish the transparency law, and do you know what is the most interesting thing about it? Why has none of these 36 countries contacted France or Canada with a similar request? In addition, if we consider article by article, French and Canadian laws are much stricter than Georgian ones and even provide for such a measure as a prison sentence as a punishment. But for some reason only we should abolish control, they can do anything, since Western countries protect their sovereignty with the transparency law, and why do we need that when we have Michael Roth on one side and the American ambassador? on the other hand?!
This can no longer be called a secret game or a behind-the-scenes decision. Not individual European politicians, but the Venice Commission itself says directly and without hesitation that in Georgia the family cult must be ended and same-sex marriage must be legalized and the corruption of minors should begin in kindergarten and school that those who come to Georgia Roth, and others like him felt like fish in water here in the future.
This, friends, is a war! The war for self-preservation!
