Updates and news on DUI jurisdiction in Georgia

COVID-19 Update on Suspension of DUI Management License**
On September 25, 2020, the Georgia Department of Driver Services released a new memorandum regarding administrative freezes in DUI cases.
Quicks facts:
1. If you have refused a state blood or breath test and obtained a Form 1205 (provisional driver’s license), that permit is valid for a total of 135 days.
2. It is important to remember that you only have 120 days from the date of your 1205 form to request a hearing to suspend your license. If you do not have an ignition interlock device installed, do not receive this restricted permit, or request the hearing, you will be subject to a one-year driver’s license suspension if you have a Georgia driver’s license.
3. If you choose to have the ignition lockout device approved instead of requesting a hearing, you STILL have only 30 days to do so or you will be subject to a 1-year license suspension.
4. If you do not have a Georgian driver’s license, your right to drive in Georgia may be suspended for one year.
