Atlanta, GA – MIT’s Election Data and Science Lab, in collaboration with the University of Georgia’s School of Public and International Affairs, surveyed registered voters on various aspects of the Georgia election process. The voter satisfaction survey following the November 2022 election showed positive results for Georgia voters.

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger was pleased with the poll’s results, noting that “Georgia voters found the 2022 election to be safe, secure and accessible. The data reflects the hard work our 159 Electoral Officers put in to make it a success. They are our everyday heroes and should be commended for their work.”

The poll highlights several wins for Georgia voters:

▪ 98.9% of voters stated that they had no problems casting their vote.
▪ 95.3% indicated a waiting time of less than 30 minutes.
▪ 97% of voters rated their interactions with poll workers as “good” or “excellent”.
▪ 99% of voters felt safe at their polling station.
▪ 89.7% of voters feel confident in the election process.
▪ 77.4% of voters felt SB202 did not interfere with their ability to vote, with 14.8% saying SB202 made voting easier.
▪ 90.7% of voters find it easy to vote in Georgia.

David Becker, Executive Director of the Center for Election Innovation and Research, commended Georgia’s election officials upon hearing the poll’s results: “Georgia’s voters express confidence and satisfaction with the electoral process, which is simple in Georgia and offers voting options by mail, early.” in person or on election day. The queues seem short for most voters, and they have faith in officials from both parties to ensure their votes are counted accurately. This is a remarkable achievement given the years of false attacks on the integrity of Georgia’s elections.”

The poll surveyed 1,253 registered voters in Georgia who cast their ballots in the 2022 midterm elections.

Georgia is recognized as a national leader in elections. It was the first state in the country to introduce the triple combination of automatic voter registration, at least 17 days of early voting (which has been dubbed the “gold standard”) and absentee voting. Georgia continues to set records for voter turnout and voter turnout, and in the 2018 midterm elections saw the largest increase in average voter turnout of any other state and record turnouts in 2020 and 2022. 2022 saw the largest single day of in-person early turnout in Georgia’s history using of Georgia’s secure ballot voting system.
