Two youngsters discovered protected, mom arrested in Georgia | Native information

The mother of two, who was brought to Georgia in violation of a custody order according to authorities, was arrested after she and the children were found Wednesday night.

Amanda Jean Redmon, 26, of Dallas, has been charged with child abduction and is in custody in Georgia.

Iredell Sheriff Darren Campbell said MPs were called to an apartment on Dobson Farm Road on Wednesday to investigate a report that the mother had taken two children away.

Campbell said in a press release the children’s grandmother said Redmon, the children’s mother, shouldn’t be alone or drive the kids. The grandmother told MPs that Redmon had gone with the children and is said to be going to the beach.

The grandmother said she took the kids for breakfast Tuesday and never returned, Campbell added.

He said detectives were given copies of court orders confirming that Redmon should not be alone with the children, should be supervised, and should not drive with the children.

Redmon was entered into a database and an Amber Alert was issued to the two children.

He said information was received that their vehicle was discovered in College Park, Georgia. She was arrested and the children were taken to safety.
