Two men were arrested Saturday night in Dalton, Georgia, after a gunfire broke out in the parking lot of the North Georgia Agricultural Fair grounds.

At around 9:35 pm, Dalton Police Department officers were on another call when they heard gunshots from the mess parking lot. The officers ran towards the area and found a group of people arguing.

When the officers called, a man – 22-year-old Dylan Hall – looked at the officers and ran. Officers and an off duty Georgia State Patrol soldier ran after him. One woman in the group knocked the officer down before posing as a law enforcement officer, the authorities said.

The soldier was then hit from behind several times by the woman’s cousin, 18-year-old Gabriel Adams, authorities said. Adams then fled from other reacting Dalton officers and was eventually caught after a long chase.

The investigation revealed that the argument began between an ex-boyfriend and an ex-girlfriend. Other family members became involved, and Adams fired a handgun several times. When Adams saw the officers, he went off when the chase to Hall began, but stayed when his cousin began fighting the off duty soldier.

The off duty soldier was treated at Hamilton Medical Center for his injuries.

At the scene of the crime, the officers found several pieces of evidence, including a handgun. Detectives were able to question the individuals involved and said Adams admitted firing shots during the disturbance and also admitted fighting the off-duty soldier. Adams also said he did not know the person was an officer.

Adams has been charged with aggravated assault, reckless behavior, assault, possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime, and willful obstruction of police officers.

Hall was charged with willful obstruction of police officers and parole violation.

Nobody was hit by the gunfire, there were no injuries.

The case is still an active investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Tommy Ensley at 706-278-9085, extension. 157
