Trump attorney John Eastman is handing himself over to Georgia prison in the 2020 election interference case

Attorney John Eastman, a key figure in Donald Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election, surrendered Tuesday in the Fulton County Jail. He is one of Trump’s 18 co-defendants on charges in the Georgia racketeering case. Speaking to reporters outside of prison, he claimed he and Trump would be “completely rehabilitated.”

reporter 1: “Do you regret attributing your name to the former President?”

John Eastman: “None at all. The President calls and asks for representation. I think every citizen in my position should be willing to put up a representation.”

reporter 2: “Are you claiming immunity from prosecution?”

John Eastman: “I’m not going to answer that question.”

Trump has announced that he will capitulate on Thursday. Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows has asked a federal court to block his arrest in Georgia and refer his case to federal court, saying the allegations stemmed from his position in the US government.
