The life of Rick Ross is studied in Georgia State University’s law class

Rick Ross will be the subject of an upcoming college course at George State University. This fall semester, the institution’s College of Law will explore the career achievements of the acclaimed MC in its Legal Life course series.

“The Legal Life of Rick Ross” is set to show GSU students how the “Blowin’ Money Fast” rapper transacted his business deals outside of the music industry, according to Billboard. The course analyzes his business contracts, gathers information from the lawyers who helped him with them and discusses how to draft and negotiate contracts, represent clients effectively and deal with crisis and risk management.

Ross is known for amassing much of his wealth through investments in several companies, including Checkers Restaurants, Luc Belaire, and Rap Snacks, to name a few.

“The biggest hits are in the classroom,” Ross said. “I’ve always been a connoisseur of the game and look forward to teaching the next generation how to stay on the ball.”

Professor Mo Ivory created the course series The Legal Life of… in 2019, which has previously studied comedian and host of “Family Feud” Steve Harvey, actor and rapper Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, and fellow actress of Xscape belonged to Kandi Burruss. Ivory said in a statement that he believes Ross is the perfect choice for the fall 2023 semester, which coincides with hip-hop’s 50th anniversary.

“When I began researching Ross,” he said, “it became clear early on that my students would learn about a businessman who turned his love of music into an empire encompassing vast real estate holdings, food and beverage franchises and investments in the world.” automobile and bicycle industries, literary works and corporate investments.

Ross is the newest rapper to be the subject of a college course. The University of California, Berkeley offered a course on Nicki Minaj in the Spring 2023 semester. Nicki Minaj: The Black Barbie Femmecee & Hip Hop Feminisms focused on Minaj’s career in the “context of broader historical societal structures and hip hop feminisms”.
