A Texas man is behind bars after police said he met an underage girl online and took her across state lines for sexual purposes.
According to federal court documents, Robert David Fyke, 33, is charged with communicating with a 14-year-old Georgia teenager using text messages that were sexual in nature. The suspect told law enforcement that he received sexually explicit pictures of the girl prior to the meeting, NBC 11 reports.
Fyke first told the police that the girl was 19 years old. During a polygraph exam, he allegedly admitted that he knew the victim was 14 years old.
According to investigators, Fyke picked the girl up on May 15 near her family’s home in Dekalb County, Georgia. He then drove her to Texas. Investigators received a search warrant and tracked Fyke using his cell phone recordings, but could not find the victim at the time.
Fyke reportedly told police that the girl originally came with him but left with another man around June 11. The suspect said he left the girl in Lubbock during a trip to Colorado and when he returned she was gone.
According to NBC’s 11Alive, authorities found the girl safe and are now working with other authorities to bring the girl back home. She was found in another state, but police did not provide any further information. Fyke told authorities the teen could be in Pennsylvania or Connecticut.
