The Georgia Racing Hall of Fame held a ceremony honoring Herb Emory, the law enforcement agency

A longtime traffic reporter for WSB Radio and Channel 2 Action News, Emory was known in NASCAR circles as a passionate motorsport enthusiast.

The GRHOF celebrated the occasion by having the squad car driven through Dawsonville Plaza and escorted by Georgia State Patrol soldiers in a tribute to Emory.

After returning to the museum, the car was carefully brought into the building and placed among the many historic cars.

Behind the car was a display designed to commemorate the work of law enforcement and first responders, including patches, uniform items, and photos.

Karen Emory, Herb’s wife, thanked the GRHOF for designing the exhibit, which is located next to the museum’s Herb Emory Library.

“It’s the perfect place,” Emory said. “To know how much Herb loved that car, how much he loved racing and how much he loved this Hall of Famer… All I know is he’s smiling down on us and everyone who had anything to do with making this happen right now . ”

Cindy Elliott thanked the GSP and local law enforcement for helping coordinate the escort and putting together many of the exhibit’s elements.
