The U.S. Senate on Thursday confirmed another new federal district judge for Georgia, voting 52-48 to nominate President Joe Biden’s appointment of Sarah Geraghty, senior counsel to the Southern Center for Human Rights, for the Northern District of Georgia.
Yes and no votes fell along party lines – with the same exceptions as in last week’s vote to approve federal public defender Victoria Marie Calvert’s nomination for the Northern District of Georgia. Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina broke with fellow GOP members in their party and voted to confirm Geraghty.
