Lance Armstrong’s son is charged with teenage sexual assault
Austin Police Department / Twitter / Lance Armstrong Luke Armstrong, son of disgraced professional cyclist Lance Armstrong, was accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy in 2018, according to an affidavit issued earlier this month. Armstrong, the eldest of five children of Lance Armstrong, has been charged with sexually assaulting a child – a second degree felony – and faces a prison sentence of up to 20 years if convicted. He was released on Tuesday on a personal certificate of appreciation. The victim first met Armstrong in June 2018 when she and a mutual friend went to his family’s mansion in Austin, Texas. At the time, she was 16 years old and Armstrong was 18 years old. Two days later, she went to a party and got drunk, according to the affidavit of the Austin American-Statesman and KXAN Austin. Armstrong picked her up after she couldn’t find a way home, but she didn’t remember the drive with him. Lance Armstrong proves he’s not a Michael Jordan – and still a huge asshole. He allegedly sexually assaulted her in his home and she woke up there the next morning. He drove her home and was silent during the drive, according to the affidavit. The girl reported the incident in November 2020 and, according to the arrest documents, took a call to Armstrong in December 2020 admitting he had sex with Randy Leavitt, Armstrong’s attorney, alleged to the Austin American-Statesman that the couple were in Was briefly in a relationship this summer and the encounter was amicable. “A full verification of the facts will confirm what allegedly was absolutely not done, and proper and thorough trial will exonerate Luke,” Leavitt said. “What happened in high school three years ago was not a crime or sexual assault. What it was then was a friendly relationship, and it continued to be consensual between the two young people, with both ultimately going their separate ways. That charge should never have been brought, and certainly not three years later. Armstrong was sober the night of the incident, according to a friend who saw him take the girl back to his house, the affidavit said. Investigators said the victim told six people about the attack. Four of them remembered that the girl “said the sex was not consensual,” and one of them said that according to an affidavit, they learned about the attack a week after the attack. Two of them said the girl had spoken about the document having nightmares and crying “over the attacks years later”. Armstrong is a student at Rice University and is scheduled to graduate in sports management in 2022, according to LinkedIn. He plays soccer for school and is a graduate of Westlake High School.
