The law “On Family Values and Protection of Minors” passed by the Georgian Parliament is a positive step forward, as reported by 1tv.ge citing the press release of the PR Service of the Patriarchate of Georgia.
The statement emphasizes that protecting family values has become a major challenge today in Georgia, as in many countries around the world.
“Over the years, both the Patriarchate of Georgia and the majority of the population have taken a firm stance on this issue, both striving to protect family values in the face of growing challenges.
The Church of Georgia has consistently defended and continues to defend our youth from ideologies that undermine traditional family structures.
A few years ago, textbooks for students and teachers provoked sharp and justified criticism from the Patriarchate of Georgia, as certain topics in these textbooks openly promoted the erosion of family values. It took extensive and active efforts to remove passages containing LGBTQI propaganda from these educational resources because textbooks must be consistent with our core values.
Furthermore, the spread of LGBTQI propaganda has often caused significant social divisions and has even been used as a tool by those seeking to deepen polarization within society.
In response to these trends, the law “On Family Values and Protection of Minors” adopted by the current government of Georgia is seen as a positive step forward.
We hope that this law will bring fruitful results for the well-being of our society, as it represents a decisive and decisive step in protecting the traditional values that define the identity of the Georgian nation,” the statement concluded.
The law “On Family Values and Protection of Minors,” which was not signed by President Salome Zurabishvili, was signed yesterday by the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.
