Mr Wayne Tyrone “Butch” Minshew, 80, of Shannon, passed away at his home on Friday 19 May 2023.
Mr. Minshew was born on August 16, 1942 in Floyd County, Georgia to the late Rev. Boyd Frank Minshew and the late Dorothy Ailene Witt Minshew. Before him also died his wife Alma Jean Cagle Minshew and two sons-in-law, Garry Luke Davis Sr. and Marvin “Orlando” Price. Mr. Minshew was a member of the Calhoun Avenue Baptist Church. Before retiring, he was a maintenance manager at Calhoun Health Care. Mr. Minshew loved camping and wrestling. He promoted wrestling for several years and was inducted into the North Georgia Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2021. Mr. Minshew’s greatest love was spending time with his family.
Survivors include a son, William Michael Minshew (Judy); four daughters, Dottie Cook (Joe), Debra Davis, Kim Stone (Stacy), and Michelle Harris (Tony); Grandchildren: Luke Davis, Kyle Davis, Jessica Holder (Zane), Zachary Stone (Salisa), Tatiana Lopez (Christian), Tamyrra Price (Tyler Wells), Abral Wilson-Thrasher (Josh), Joshua Cook (Desalee), and Jessica Willingham; great-grandchildren: Chelsey Davis, Isaak Lopez, Hunter Cook, Reed Cook, Chloe Willingham and Lynton Wells; one brother, John E. Minshew (Janneal); nieces nephews; his canine companions Sassy & Cross.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 in the chapel of the Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, conducted by Rev. Marvin Jackson and Rev. Barry McCullough. Burial will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will be hosting friends at the Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel on Wednesday from 12pm to 1.45pm.
The pallbearers are asked to gather at the Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel on Wednesday at 1.30pm. Active members include: Zach Stone, Zane Holder, Josh Cook, Christian Lopez, Luke Davis and Kyle Davis. Volunteers: Josh Thrasher and Tyler Wells.
