Mr. Terry Delane Wagner, 59, of Rome, GA, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023, at a local hospital.
Mr. Wagner was born June 4, 1964 in Rome, Georgia, the son of Mrs. Donnis Nichols Wagner and the late Robert Duane Wagner. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a stepson, Ky McCain. Mr. Wagner graduated from Great Mills High School in Great Mills, MD in 1982. He worked at Gayley & Lord with his brother Kerry, but his calling was law enforcement. Mr. Wagner has enjoyed a career in law enforcement spanning more than 29 years, from the Floyd County Police Department to the Polk County Sherrif’s Department, where he served as a deputy in the warrant division before retiring in 2018. He loved his children more than anything, but fishing was a close second. Whether it was a house or a car, Mr. Wagner was an all-rounder and could repair almost anything. He was a joker who loved life and woke up whistling every morning.
Survivors include his wife, Dena Carver Wagner of Rome, to whom he was married on August 25, 2017; 3 sons, USAF TSgt. Corey Wagner (Jessica), Justin Wagner (Holli) and Wesley Wagner; his mother, Donnis Nichols Wagner; 3 stepchildren, Paige Presley (Scottie), Hannah McCain and Nick Carver; a granddaughter, Emma McFry; a godson, Connor Adams; 3 brothers, Kerry Wagner (Joy), Robin Wagner (Kristen) and Shawn Wagner (Melissa); numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev. Clifford Free will be in charge.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 p.m. until time of service at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.
