We are sad to announce the passing of our family’s matriarch, Stella Novella Bramlett Trotter, on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Novella was so loved by her family and they were with her as she died peacefully and with love. We will love and miss our Mama, Maw Maw, Mother with love forever and rejoice that she has her new body and will live forever with Jesus and her dear family members who were there to greet her as she entered the gates of heaven entered.
Novella was born April 9, 1935 in Floyd County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Judge C. W. Bramlett and the late Estella Sisson Bramlett. She married the love of her life, William O. “Bill” Trotter Jr., on September 6, 1952, and predeceased her on May 18, 2004. Also predeceased by her son, George P. Trotter, Sr., by a grandson, Kevin Blake Trotter, by a great-grandson, Ethan McKinnley Long, by a daughter-in-law, Vicki Trotter, and by a sister, Bonnie Sue Bramlett Carter.
Novella graduated from Pepperell High School in 1953. She was a member of East Rome Baptist, where she was part of the King’s Daughters Sunday School class. She was a homemaker and mother and worked as a secretary at Midway School in the 1960s. She was best known in the northwest Georgia community as “The Flower Lady.” In June 1979 she founded Novella’s Flower Shoppe in her home and over the next 44 years it grew into one of the best in Rome and Northwest Georgia. Novella’s Flower Shoppe was her namesake and a proud, family-run small business. It was her great honor and gratitude to be a part of so many celebrations, holidays, sympathy and families in the Rome, Lindale, Silver Creek and Floyd County communities. She appreciated the love, support and memories and was grateful for the trust, loyalty and patronage of the community.
