Obituary of Georgia Smith (1940-2023) – Liberty, IN

Georgia Alice Smith, 83, of Liberty, Indiana, died Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana.

She was born on April 14, 1940 in Franklin County to Everett Smith and Nina Davis and grew up in Fairfield, Indiana. She worked at Alcoa/Silgan for 44 years before retiring in 2003. Georgia enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafting, and working around her home. Georgia will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include their sons: John (Rochelle) Smith of Richmond, Indiana; Grandsons: Brandon and Alex Smith of Richmond, Indiana; Sisters: Janice Wainscott of Fairfield, Ohio, Janet Wright of Liberty, Indiana; Brothers: Freddie Smith of Loraine, Ohio, David Smith of Venice, Florida, Elmer (Vanessa) Davis of Niceville, Florida; Step-Sister: Mary Bell Davis and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Before her died her parents, brother-in-law: Scottie Wainscott, stepfather: Elmer A. Davis Sr., step-siblings: Oleta Wooley, Geneva Cappel, James Davis, Douglas Davis; sister-in-law Bonnie Smith; special friends: Richard Rubush and John Smith Sr.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2023 at the Showalter Blackwell Long, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty. Friends can stop by from 12 p.m. until the service.
