Georgia Mae Shull, 84, passed away at her home on June 20, 2023 after a long illness. Georgia was born on May 30, 1939 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Robert E (Ed) and Frankie (Strickland) Yarbrough. When Georgia was five years old, her parents sold everything they owned and took her family to California by train. They began in Bakersfield, California, followed the fruit crop up the Central Valley, and eventually settled in Winters, California. When Georgia was 7 years old, her beloved mother died after giving birth to her child. Georgia and her older sister would take on the responsibility of helping their father raise his new little brother. As a young teenager, Georgia worked with her father in the packing sheds and orchards in Solano and Yolo counties. Georgia retired from Cal-West Seeds in Woodland after 32 years. Her hobbies included bowling, camping, sewing, crocheting, arts and crafts, and working in her garden. She loved to paint landscapes and old barns. At the age of 82, she was sewing blankets (over 50) to give her children, grandchildren and other special friends for Christmas. She loved Indian art and wolves. Georgia will be missed by her children: Joy Fortuna, Stockton Ca., Jeanne Lopez, Dunnigan Ca., Jacquie Hanna, Galt Ca., Scott Decaillet, Woodland Ca., Debbie Williams, Sacramento Ca. 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her brother Thomas Yarbrough, Delta Colorado, stepbrother Don Gilbert, Woodland Ca., and sister-in-law Marilyn Yarbrough, Roy Utah, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She died before Georgia parents, sister Fran Criner and brother-in-law Ralph Criner, brother Wayne Yarbrough, sister Barbara Sweazey and their three young children Joshua, Jacob and Zechariah Sweazey, stepmother Gladys (Pat) Yarbrough and stepsister Roberta Rooker. No services are planned. The private burial will take place at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
