Obituary of Georgia Allen (1936 – 2023) – Stanwood, WA

Georgia Bowman Allen
June 24, 1936 – February 08, 2023
Stanwood, Washington – Georgia Bowman Allen was the proud daughter of Wirt and Teresa Bowman, born to them in June 1936. Although born in Beverly Hills, CA, she spent most of her youth growing up between Nogales and Tucson, AZ. The accomplished storyteller Georgia was the family historian and loved researching and sharing about her beloved father and mother, a talented flamenco dancer. Many loved ones in the family are connected because of their passion for their family history.
As a young adult, Georgia was sent to and graduated from Anoakia School in Arcadia, California. She then attended college in Colorado for a year and chose to complete her education in Arizona, where she learned the technical skills to become an executive secretary. Shortly after completing her courses, she took a cruise to Hawaii aboard the Matsonia with her best friend Sandy. Since she only wanted to spend one summer there in 1959, she only left the city at the end of 1966.
While she had many adventures in Hawaii, her greatest was becoming a stepmother and mother. Upon returning to the mainland, she went to San Francisco, where she met her beloved Clive in 1968 while serving as executive secretary to the President of Premier Insurance.
Yours is a sweet love story. He was entranced by her smile and she was entranced by his kindness and charm. They married in 1969. Shortly after marriage, they moved to San Mateo, California, where they lovingly raised their family until returning to England in 1983 to take care of their mother-in-law. They were completely devoted for 54 years.
Passionate about needlepoint and embroidery, she did a home business for a company called Athena Crafts in the early 1970s. She was also very active in her faith, volunteering for everything from the Alter Guild at church to visiting seniors in their homes. Wherever she saw need, she helped quickly.
Georgia’s career spanned many years and she was a distinguished secretary, working for Presidents, Vice Presidents, CEOs and CFOs of law firms and financial institutions until her final position at Intel in Folsom, California when she retired.
She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandma and great grandma (emphasis on the great) and was always there to support, encourage, listen and love her family. She and her husband embodied kindness and love.
Georgia loved her husband dearly and joined him three months after his death. Georgia is survived by daughters, M. Terry Bowman, Nicki (Ed) Oldham; granddaughters, Jennifer (Ryan) Morgan, Samantha Oldham, Heather (JB) Barnes and great-grandchildren, Jane, Clive, Andrew and Athena, as well as numerous stepchildren and their families in Hawaii. Nephews, John Allen (Sandra Woodcock), Geoffrey (Melanie) Anderson, Tom (Ruth) Bowman, Jack (Kelly) Bowman and a few neighborhood kids who she loved like they were her own. Her ability to love her family had a wide reach and many have known her love and felt her absence. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out.
She is preceded by her beloved Clive, parents Wirt and Teresa Bowman, in-laws Joe and Ivy Allen, brother Jack Bowman, sister-in-law Gisela Kittel, brother-in-law Ivor Allen and nieces Elise Marquis and Heidi Bowman, and several extended family members.
If you wish to remember her or Clive, you can make a donation on her behalf to the Fisher House Foundation (via her website: fisherhouse.org) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, her two favorite charities.
You can offer your condolences and share memories of Georgia to her family online at www.kernfuneralhome.com. Kern Funeral Home will take care of the arrangements.
