Mr. Joseph John Szulya, 81, of Rome, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, at a local hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Szulya was born October 16, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph Szulya and the late Marie Burick Szulya. He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Mary Wheeler, and a brother-in-law, Lewis Krehel. Mr. Szulya worked as a tool repairman for Lester Industries from 1964 until his retirement in 2004.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ann Jean Miller Szulya, to whom he was married February 22, 1964; three children, Jeff Szulya (Angela) and her daughter Maria Jeruzal, Robert Szulya (Nicole Knight) and her daughter Madison Knight and Tina Szulya Crouch (Eddie) and her children Madison, Maddox and Mason Crouch; three sisters-in-law, Linda Krehel, Susie Smith (Lenny) and Donna Ingram (Art); a brother-in-law, Thomas Wheeler; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Memorial Gardens.
