Mrs. Jane S. Pate, age 94, of Park Avenue in Sandersville, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the Washington County Extended Care Facility. A memorial service will be held at the gravesite on Thursday, February 23 at 11:00 am at Davisboro City Cemetery to celebrate her life. Reverend Stan Littleton will officiate. The family will greet friends after the funeral service at the cemetery.
Mrs. Pate was born and raised in Taylor County to the late Thomas Saunders and the late Mattie Lou Byrd Saunders. After high school, Mrs. Pate attended Georgia State College for Women, where she earned a degree in home economics. She began her professional career as a school teacher in Davisboro before working for the Department of Family and Children’s Ministries, from which she retired. In retirement, Mrs. Pate became a licensed general practitioner and worked at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. She was a longtime active member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church, where she attended the United Methodist Women’s Group and formerly taught Sunday school. Mrs. Pate enjoyed attending grandchildren’s events and family gatherings. She also loved to sew. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pate is predeceased by her husband James Patrick “Pat” Pate Sr. and their son James Patrick “Jim” Pate Jr.
Survivors include her daughter Lynn P. Bonifay and husband Brannon of Sandersville; grandchildren, Cassie Faglier (Tracy), April Faglier (Stacy), Brandi McGoldrick (Michael) and Andy Bonifay (Anna Kathrine); Great-grandchildren, Jayna Prescott, Taylor Prescott, Liam McGoldrick and Brooks Bonifay and their daughter-in-law Deborah Pate.
