Georgia Ferrell

SIKESTON ?? Georgia Claude Larkins Ferrell, 86, of Sikeston, died on Sunday January 16, 2022.

Born on May 7, 1935 in Dorena, Missouri to the late RR and Annie Bennett Larkins, she was a graduate of East Prairie High School, where she was a cheerleader and majorette.

On October 12, 1952, Georgia Floyd married Flaire Ferrell Sr., who survives the home.

Georgia was a committed Christian wife, mother, grandmother and aunt Georgie. She left a legacy to all who knew of her faith in God, her love for family, and her hard work. She believed in right food, right rest and excellent physical fitness. She loved diamonds and jewelry as well as flea markets and bargains. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to dance, especially to 80’s hits.

She was a natural caregiver who dedicated her life to caring for her family and friends. If she were with you you wouldn’t have anyone better in your corner and vice versa if she wasn’t good with you let’s just say she liked to say: she didn’t get headaches, she gave them.

Many people shared ham and beans, cornbread, and chocolate cake at their table and were indulged by her words of wisdom, also known as her “sermons.” One of her favorite sayings is: “Reasonable people, immediately informed, rarely disagree”. always came up with the disclaimer, ??But first you have to find two sensible people.?? Another favorite, ??The Mills of the Lord Grind Slowly but Extremely Fine?? brought comfort and clarity to anyone who had heard it many times over the years.

Leaving the country alongside her 70-year-old husband to remember and celebrate her life: her son Floyd Flaire Ferrell Jr. and daughter-in-law Karen Ferrell of Sikeston; her daughter Ginger Ferrell Cox and her son-in-law Allen Cox of Coppell, Texas, and her daughter Julie Ferrell O’Brien and her son-in-law Dan O’Brien of Sikeston; five grandchildren, Floyd Flaire Ferrell III and Emma Kathryn Ferrell of Sikeston, Lovell Faye Cox and Gavin Daniel O’Brien of Dallas, Texas, and Anniegeorgia Ferrell O’Brien of St. Louis, Missouri; a multitude of devoted nieces, nephews and friends; and her special caregiver, Kathy Allred.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Thomas, Robert, Bruce and Marshall; and sisters Greachann, Laverne and Lovell.

While we will miss Georgia greatly, we take comfort in the fact that her beautiful mind and body are whole again and that she will rest in peace with her Heavenly Father forever.

Your loving spirit will always live in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston is responsible for the preparations.
