Georgia was born on July 22, 1963 in Sioux City to Henry and Maxine (Herrity) Grubel. She graduated from East High School in 1981 and attended the University of South Dakota and then Stewart’s School of Beauty. After her education, Georgia worked at the Regis Salon in Sioux City for several years. She married Eric Grau on September 26, 1987 at Hope Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, Nebraska. After the couple started a family, Georgia stayed at home with her children, Riley and Thomas. When they were of school age, Georgia worked as a “lunch lady” at East High School for seven years.

Georgia loved to read and would spend hours drinking her Diet Coke and reading the entire newspaper. She loved relaxing in her RV in Spirit Lake, IA and has made many friends there over the years. Georgia has always loved big family vacations at Blanche Lake in Minnesota, where she soaked up the sun, played games, and entertained everyone with her goofy sense of humor. Georgia also enjoyed boating, fishing, and camping.

Survivors include her Sioux City husband Eric Grau; daughter Riley Gray of Sioux City; son Thomas Grau of Sioux City; beloved grandchildren Laythm and Kinslee Biederman; Sisters: Glenda (Jeff) Davis of Sioux City, Lisa (Mike) Chesher of Sgt. Bluff, IA, and Kim (Troy) Dake of Sioux City; Mother-in-law: Susie Grau from Florida; Schwager, Doug Gray, Matt (Laurie) Gray and Dave (Jill) Tompkins; Sister-in-law Rachelle (Vic) Campbell and many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Prior to Georgia, her parents, grandparents, father-in-law Tom Grau, and other family members died.
