Mr. Bryant Willard Hopper, aged 76, of Summerville, GA, passed away at his home on Saturday April 29, 2023.
Mr. Hopper was born on August 4, 1946 in Calhoun, GA to the late Thomas C. Hopper and the late Martha Goswick Hopper.
Mr. Hopper attended Plainville Elementary School and Calhoun High School. A former employee of Trend Mills, he spent 25 years at Klopman/Burlington Mills and the next five years at Mohawk. Prior to his retirement, he was affiliated with Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital at the time of its closure, having served there for 10 years.
Mr. Hopper “loved” working on his older model cars. He took special pride in the fact that every nut, bolt and screw was polished and sometimes repainted. He also had a collection of small collector cars. He enjoyed driving around looking for old and abandoned cars and trucks. He loved spending time with his family, they were very special to him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in 2007 by a son, Thomas Bryan “Tommy” Hopper, in 2016 by a sister, Mable Hunt, and in 2018 by a brother, T. Richard Hopper.
Survivors include his wife Wilma Land Hopper, to whom he was married from 1965 to 1977 and until his death in 1988; 2 daughters, Michelle Hughes, (Dustin) O’Hara, Summerville, GA and Jennifer Stroup and her husband, TJ, Cedartown, GA; 5 grandchildren, Erick Hopper, Ashton Hopper, Cody Hughes, Ariana Stroup and Trey Stroup; 5 great-grandchildren, Nathan Hopper, Nickolas Hopper, Bowdon Hughes, Holden Hughes and Amberlee Carrasco; one brother, Leslie Hopper, Rome, GA; sisters, Vivian Carden, Rome, GA; Mitzi Lindsey (Ben), Calhoun, GA; Sisters-in-law, Evelyn Land and Jane Hopper, both from Rome, GA, brother-in-law, William Land, Jacksonville, FL. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral services for Mr. Bryant Willard Hopper will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in the chapel of the Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel. Rev. Randy Jiles will officiate. Burial will be in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, Tuesday from 12 p.m. until service.
Serving pallbearers include Erick Hopper, Ashton Hopper, Cody Hughes, TJ Stroup, Justin Lindsey, and Jason Hopper. Trey Stroup will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel is responsible for arranging the funeral.
