Senator Ossoff secures the largest clean energy manufacturing investment in American history thanks to his Solar Manufacturing Act

Qcells is investing $2.5 billion and creating 2,500 jobs in Georgia after Sen. Ossoff’s Solar Energy Manufacturing for America Act went into effect this summer

Qcells CEO: “Nobody was a bigger supporter of Qcells than Senator Ossoff”

Dalton, Ga. – US Senator Jon Ossoff has secured 2,500 solar manufacturing jobs in Georgia thanks to his solar manufacturing bill.

With Senator Ossoff’s Solar Energy Manufacturing for America Act becoming law, Qcells will invest $2.5 billion in Georgia and create 2,500 jobs — the largest investment in clean energy manufacturing in American history.

The $2.5 billion investment will expand Qcells’ solar factory in Dalton, Georgia and build a new solar factory in Cartersville, Georgia – creating America’s first complete solar supply chain anchored in Georgia.

“My goal remains to make Georgia the world leader in advanced power generation. That’s why I wrote and passed major legislation to bring more solar jobs to our state, and today secured the largest clean energy manufacturing project in American history, with thousands of solar jobs and billions of dollars on the way Georgia. Senator Ossoff said.

“No one was a bigger advocate for Qcells than Senator Ossoff,” said Qcells CEO Justin Lee. “We worked closely with Senator Ossoff to enact his solar power manufacturing legislation, which helped make today’s historic investment possible. We look forward to continuing our close partnership with Senator Ossoff to create fully American-made and sustainable solar solutions, beginning here in Georgia.”

This new investment comes after Sen. Ossoff and Qcells broke ground on a $171 million manufacturing expansion at Dalton earlier this summer, which will create 470 jobs.

Sen. Ossoff’s Solar Energy Manufacturing for America Act was enacted this summer as part of the Inflation Reduction Act.

Senator Ossoff’s solar law aims to boost domestic solar production to create American jobs, increase energy independence and reduce US dependence on China.

According to Qcells, the new state-of-the-art facility in Cartersville will produce solar bars, wafers, cells and finished modules.
