Netflix, Dive Membership: Manlys Georgia-Could Davis starring | Northern Seashores Ranking

GEORGIA-MAY Davis may have grown up watching TV productions surrounded by Australia’s most acclaimed little movie stars, but she had to “force” her mother to allow her singing lessons when she was five years old.

The 26-year-old actress grew up in Manly and still lives in Manly, and admits that from a young age she was “obsessed” with performing and being on set with her golden girl mother, Alyssa-Jane Cook , has sparked their desire to join the industry.

Cook starred regularly as the character Lisa Bennett on the soap opera E Street in the late 1980s and early 90s. She also starred in Above the Law and Home and Far, along with numerous screening roles.

And now Davis has her own growing list of acting credits, including her newest project, Dive Club, which is streaming on Netflix. The 12-part fictional series is about a group of feisty teenage divers forced to search for Lauren Rose (played by Davis), who discovers the city’s hidden secrets before mysteriously disappearing.

“It’s a teen mystery show that strikes the perfect balance between parents and kids,” she says.

“One parent will actually enjoy the action and one child will absolutely love the characters, the high stakes, the music and the costumes.”

Four-month filming took place in Port Douglas, Queensland, starting October 2020, and Davis says the COVID-19 pandemic helped bring the cast closer together.

The cast and crew, who mainly came from NSW, not only completed two weeks of mandatory hotel quarantine together, many of them also stayed together over Christmas.

“We got out and ended up in this tropical paradise where there were no tourists, no people, just us and the crew of a few hundred. It was just different from anything I’d ever experienced, ”says Davis

“It was really an impressive experience: You literally lived and breathed everything in the Dive Club. That makes the show special because it was such a unique experience, a unique story and everyone became this makeshift family for each other. “

ON SET: Sanaa Shaik, Georgia-May Davis, Aubri Ibrag, and Miah Madden.

Davis is also proud to be part of a production that had many Port Douglas locals on the crew and as extras at a time when Queensland’s tourism industry was hit hard.

Davis may be only 26 years old, but she’s been in the industry for more than 20 years after her mom finally agreed to give her singing lessons all those years ago.

“I made my mom take me to singing lessons and auditions,” she says.

“There was nothing from this stage parent holding hands. I always say, ‘Why can’t you be a stage parent, you could have been one of those psycho stage mothers and maybe I would have had this huge career now? “!” “

Her mother’s advice? Anyone who is pushed into the industry will quickly fall in love with the craft. In hindsight, Davis agrees. “I feel like I’d have lost interest by now if my mother forced me to do it when I was growing up,” she says.

Prior to Dive Club, Davis had run countless ads, revised Young Talent Time 2012, and hosted Disney’s Backstage Pass, where she hosted several celebrity events on the red carpet.

When she’s not in front of the camera, Davis said she had a “normal job.”

“I’m a producer and work in various networks, mainly producing behind the scenes on television,” she said.

“I can’t get enough. Finding stories and scripts and being in a super collaborative creative community gets me out of bed in the morning. When I’m not acting, I literally just read – I read so many books, I read so many Scripts, plays and then I just like going to the theater on my Fridays. “

Davis has another project in the works she can’t talk about just yet and is hoping for a long career in the industry.

“My dream is to produce and act in a show, that’s my ultimate goal, and of course working with some great directors and scriptwriters is a big goal too,” she said.

“Having my name as a producer and actor in the credits is definitely something I’m working towards.”
