Michael Cohen says what really ‘appalled’ him about Trump’s arrest in Georgia

Michael Cohen, a former Donald Trump mediator, on Sunday expressed displeasure at what he described as “royal treatment” the former president received when he turned himself in to law enforcement in Fulton County, Georgia last week over his efforts to overturning the law resulted in election 2020.

“To be honest, I was horrified watching the news and watching Donald being taken to the Fulton County jail,” Cohen told MSNBC’s Ali Velshi. “Forty motorcades in New Jersey, forty motorcades in Georgia. Why? He is nothing more than an accused defendant.”

“How much money has it cost American taxpayers? How much money did it cost the people of Atlanta to use all the cops? For what?” Cohen added. “For that man to curl up like he’s, you know, Caesar coming through the gates of Rome after victory? He’s been charged with 91 counts. He shouldn’t get such royal treatment. “

Trump was extradited Thursday on 13 felony charges.

Next year he has to stand trial in New York for the hush money payment to Stormy Daniels. He was also arrested for alleged mishandling of confidential materials after leaving the White House and for his role in the deadly US Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.

After years as Trump’s personal attorney, Cohen cooperated with prosecutors in the Daniels case and was sentenced to three years in prison. He’s now a vocal critic of his former client.
