Georgia may impose work requirements as a condition of Medicaid eligibility after a federal district court ruled that the Biden administration’s revocation of authorization for those requirements was arbitrary and capricious.

The decision allows the state to advance its Georgia Pathways plan, which it said would add about 60,000 people to its Medicaid roles. It’s also a setback to the administration’s efforts to eliminate work requirements.

The Department of Health and Human Services “did not consider or weigh the (probable) possibility that the repeal of Pathways would mean reduced Medicaid coverage in Georgia,” said US District Judge Lisa Godbey Wood…
