Man is charged with taking pictures in a Georgia mall

MORROW, Georgia (AP) – Police officers arrested a 19-year-old Georgia man for illegally possessing guns in connection with a shooting Thursday at a mall in suburban Atlanta.

A screaming battle resulted in dozens of gunshots and one injured in Morrow on Southlake Mall Thursday.

Morrow Police said Friday that they had charged Cody Wilson, of Dallas, Georgia, with the illegal possession of a gun by a convicted felon. Wilson was booked on Thursday and remained jailed on Friday without bail in Clayton County for a crime, according to prison records. It is unclear whether he has a lawyer who could speak for him.

The injured person who was shot in the thigh was not identified. He stayed in the hospital on Friday but is said to be recovering. Morrow Police Spokesman Sgt. Eli Skelton said authorities are not giving out his name because he may have been involved in the shootings. Skelton said Thursday that police believe several people fired guns in the mall’s parking lot.

Immediately after the shooting, the police arrested seven people for questioning. Skelton said more people could be charged.

Paramedics treated three people for anxiety attacks after the shooting, and many other buyers said there were scary moments during the shooting.
