The Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified those killed in the Apalachee High School shooting as Richard Aspinwall, 39; Cristina Irimie, 53; and Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14.
Here's what you should know about them:
Richard Aspinwall: The math teacher was described as kind and friendly by Ariel Bowling, a sophomore who was in Aspinwall's geometry class her freshman year. Michael Gordon, another student, agreed, telling CNN, “He was a good guy… I had him — I'm in tenth grade — so I had him for a whole year and he taught me a lot.” Aspinwall was also an assistant football coach and served as defensive coordinator for the Apalachee Wildcats football team.
Cristina Irimie: She was also a math teacher at Apalachee High School, according to the school's website. According to a family friend, the popular teacher was having a belated birthday party with her students the day she was shot.
“She decided to bake a cake and bring pizza to her class on the anniversary of her death so she could celebrate her birthday with her children,” Corneliu Caprar, a friend of Irimie and her husband, told CNN.
Irimie was dedicated to her students and treated them as her own, he said. “Cristina and her husband couldn't have biological children of their own, so she decided to turn around and love her students as her own,” Caprar said.
Christian Angulo: His older sister described him as a “very good child” who was “very sweet and so caring.”
“He was so loved by many,” Lisette Angulo wrote on a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for his funeral, which included a photo of the teenager with a cake on his 14th birthday. “He really didn't deserve this.”
Mason Schermerhorn: Family friends remember the 14-year-old as a “loving soul” and “creative child.”
“He was the sweetest, most loving soul with the biggest smile and will be greatly missed,” a family friend wrote in a GoFundMe campaign for his family.
Mason was known for his good sense of humor, family friend Rebecca Good told CNN affiliate WXIA.
“Mason was a fun, creative boy who loved to hug others,” Good said. “He was destined to spend a long life making others smile.”
