Line jumps for Georgia vs. Michigan

The Dawgs will play in the College Football Playoffs for the second time in five seasons and will do so again as the No. 3. You will face No. 2 Michigan at the Capital One Orange Bowl Semi-final game on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Two weeks ago, Georgia (12-1) opened as a 7-point favorite for neutrals ahead of Michigan (12-1).

On Sunday the line switched from Circa Sports to Georgia, which was a 9-point favorite over Michigan. The two teams will play the field at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida and the game will be broadcast on ESPN. The teams have split the two previous matchups, both played in Ann Arbor, with Michigan winning 26-0 in 1957 and Georgia 15-7 in 1965.

It’s a great event, usually great weather, ”said Kirby Smart of the Orange Bowl. “I know the players really enjoy going to South Florida, training outside, and taking in all the sights and sounds. We look forward to the opportunity to play a world class organization that meant so much to the University of Georgia. Then I have a lot of respect for Michigan. Coach Harbaugh’s team. I saw a bit of their game last night. I’ve seen some of their games on TV over the course of the season when we had some late kicks and they had some early ones. I have great respect for the work they have done. I’ve always respected him as a college coach and a pro coach. Since his brother-in-law is Tom Crean, Tom and I have obviously become good friends and have mutual respect for their family. So I know our university is sure to be thrilled to be in the College Football Playoffs. And our players today are thrilled to take this opportunity and get the chance to go out and play again. “

The Bulldogs have a 41-24 loss to Alabama in the SEC championship and Michigan a 42-3 win over Iowa in the Big Ten championship. Georgia will be making its 58th bowl game appearance, the second-largest of any program, and the team is 33-21-3 all-time in bowl games. Georgia has the longest active bowl streak in the country with 25 consecutive bowl appearances.
