I’m Raphael Warnock: That’s why I want Georgia’s vote in the midterm elections

As the senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, I have always believed that my ministry does not end at the doors of the church. I’m not a former senator–I’m a pastor serving in the US Senate. And I bring that lens of returning to my church every week and spending time in the church to my work on behalf of all Georgians in the US Senate.

I’m not in love with politics, I’m in love with change. I will work with everyone, regardless of their party, to achieve things for the people of Georgia because I believe that progress on the issues that Georgians care about is only possible if we put the people before politics .

So I’ve joined a Republican Senator from Alabama to fight for Georgia farmers who are struggling to get their crops to market. That’s why I’ve worked with a Republican senator from South Carolina to push for more federal funding for our HBCUs, which have long been above their weight. And that’s why I’ve teamed up with a Republican Senator from Florida to pass bipartisan legislation to address the maternal death crisis. I even worked with a Republican senator from Texas to designate Highway I-14 as a high priority corridor to better connect Georgia’s military communities and get Georgians where they need to go.

FINAL COUNTDOWN: HERE’S AT THE GAME IN NEXT WEEK’S MIRONAL ELECTION

We have accomplished much for Georgians in the short time that I have served in the United States Senate. We capped prescription drug costs for seniors on Medicare and insulin costs for Georgians on Medicare. We passed legislation to address the supply chain crisis and bring good-paying jobs to Georgia. And we secured long-overdue health insurance for the nearly 350,000 Georgia veterans who were exposed to toxic burn pits while on duty.

But there is still work to be done, and I have work to do on behalf of the people of Georgia. These are difficult times. It hurts Georgians – prices are way too high, from food to petrol. People worry about how they will retire gracefully. Mothers and fathers worry about the future of their children. It’s a challenge that requires serious leadership. And that’s not Herschel Walker.

Herschel Walker lied about everything, including the most basic facts about his life. His own staff says he’s lying like he’s breathing. The US Senator’s job requires honesty, and it’s clear that my opponent is far behind in that requirement.

He said he served in law enforcement. He did not. He claimed to own a company with 800 employees. It had eight. He said he started a charity for veterans. In reality, not only did he not find it — it wasn’t a charity. It was a for-profit hospital chain that paid Herschel Walker and reportedly preyed on our veterans.

In addition to honesty, the senator’s job often requires explaining oneself to Georgia voters and taking accountability. Herschel Walker has revealed that he has a problem taking responsibility for his own actions.

If my opponent as a candidate cannot speak the truth or take responsibility for his own actions, how can we trust him as our senator to do so?

The stakes are too high and the differences between me and my opponent are too great to leave this choice to chance. Show up for the vote. Make your voice heard. Election day is Tuesday November 8th.
