A Hyundai Transys unit collected employees' biometric information through its fingerprint time attendance system without their consent, violating the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, a federal lawsuit says.
Six workers alleged that Hyundai Transys Georgia Seating System LLC required them to submit their fingerprint scans as a condition of employment and as part of daily work routine at the Illinois factory, but did not inform them that their biometric data would be stored or obtained from them written approval.
