Giuliani threatens contempt: Legal dispute with election workers in Georgia intensifies

Rudy Giuliani, a former New York mayor and lawyer for Donald Trump, has been threatened with civil contempt by a federal judge. The dispute centers on Giuliani's failure to release his assets, including a luxury apartment, to Georgia election official Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss.

This follows a jury's decision in December 2023 that awarded the workers $148 million for reputational damage caused by Giuliani's false claims about her role in the 2020 presidential election. Judge Lewis Liman gave Giuliani a deadline to comply as Freeman and Moss claim he is evading asset forfeiture.

Although Giuliani has expressed his intention to fulfill his legal obligations, he is accused of wealth transfer. This complicated legal saga includes bankruptcy filings, disbarments and ongoing criminal charges and paints a challenging future for Giuliani amid political changes as Trump secures another term as president.
