Giuliani gives Mercedes and jewelry to election workers in Georgia

Rudolph Giuliani has complied with an order to turn over a Mercedes-Benz once owned by Lauren Bacall and other assets to partially satisfy a $146 million defamation judgment against two Georgia election officials.

Giuliani's 1980 Mercedes-Benz SL 500, various watches and non-exempt cash were turned over by order of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the former New York mayor's new attorney said in a Nov. 15 letter Court.

Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea' Moss have struggled to get Giuliani to comply with court orders to place his properties into receivership to repay his judgment for falsely accusing the couple of tampering with ballots during the 2020 election. Although the former Trump lawyer had vacated and handed over his Manhattan apartment, he previously stored a number of items without court approval.

The process to expropriate Giuliani's assets has been rocky, with the former mayor changing lawyers last week after his previous lawyer requested that his representation be withdrawn.

Giuliani's new attorney, Joseph M. Cammarata of Cammarata & De Meyer PC, filed the letter with the court on November 15. He noted that while Giuliani had complied with the court's demands, he planned to have the vehicle and other items inspected to determine whether they qualified for certain legal exemptions from paying off the debt.

Cammarata also asked the court to postpone a trial scheduled to begin Jan. 16 related to Giuliani's Palm Beach, Florida, condo, saying his client planned to attend President-elect Trump's inauguration.

The case is Freeman et al. v. Giuliani, SDNY, No. 24-06563, brief filed 11/15/24.
