Georgia's GOP-controlled legislator has promoted a draft law to enforce immigration, since the Republican legislature continues to demand stricter guidelines nationwide after the death of nursing students Riley's killing.
The State House gave HB 1105 in a 99:75 vote on Thursday evening on the last day of the legislative period in Georgia in Georgia after the Senate passed the law last week with a mood of 34: 19. The legislation now goes to the desk of the Republican governor Brian Kemp, who previously expressed stricter immigration policy. Kemp's office did not immediately answer a request for a comment from CNN.
The adoption of legislation comes when the national debate about immigration has become increasingly controversial. After Jose Antonio Ibarra, an immigrant without papers from Venezuela, was charged with murder of Riley, who was found dead on the University of Georgia, the national republicans used the incident to request the government of bidies to exist against illegal crossings at the southern border.
HB 1105 on site and state legal officials would cause the immigration status of the age age, in custody or people who have an “officer to believe”, caused a crime.
As part of the measure, the local law enforcement agencies, who do not work with immigration officers, lose state funds, and local civil servants who do not work with immigration authorities were able to have an indictment for offense.
The Republicans have argued that the stricter guidelines for the enforcement of the border and immigration protect the Americans and often make the connections between crime and undocumented immigrants – although research has not found a connection.
“While Joe Biden and his liberals all overgrown to protect our citizens and secure the southern border, the Republicans of Georgia say goodbye to legislation to protect our state from criminal illegal immigrants,” said the Republicans of the Senate of Georgia in one post for the votes of the Senate last week.
In the meantime, state Democrats have expressed concerns that the bill is discriminatory and could harm immigrant communities.
“This legislation will lead to the racial profile of our immigrant communities and does not make the Georgians safer,” said the democratic state, Senator Nabilah Islam Parkes, in one position on X and added that the measure was “xenophobic”.
This measure extends earlier efforts by GOP controlled legislator to combat immigration. Last week, the senators said goodbye to the HB301, who tried to roam protective cities and counties in the state of certain state and federal means.
Other states have also moved strict immigration guidelines to open up. A controversial law in Texas would allow the states and the local police to arrest persons who suspect they illegally exceed the southern border. On Tuesday, a Federal Court of Appeal announced that the law remains blocked, while its supporters are several legal challenges.
The US House adopted the Riley Act sheet, which required the detention of a hiking shot, committed burglary or theft at the beginning of this month.
