Georgia A. Law passed away on Sunday, November 7th, at the Allure Nursing Home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. A memorial service at the grave will be held on Thursday, November 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Savanna Township Cemetery in Savanna, Illinois. A memorial fund was set up.

Georgia was born on July 18, 1929, one of 10 children of George and Sarah (Schrack) Shield. She grew up on the family farm in Harlem County, Nebraska. Georgia would rather be outside than cooped up inside all her life. After graduating from high school, Georgia and her family moved to Savanna, where her parents ran the Camp Creek Farm north of town. It was in Savanna that Georgia met the love of her life, Matt Law. The couple hit it off and married on October 7, 1950. Together they raised four children and celebrated 53 years of marriage until Matt died in 2003.

After marriage, Georgia and Matt moved to Tucson, Arizona for a few years. Then they returned to Carroll County and settled in Lanark and ran the Satellite Motel. The Law eventually ended with moving to a house they built in rural Mt. Carroll.

Georgia was primarily a wife, mother, and loving grandmother. She kept a clean house and always had food ready for her family. Georgia has been pretty stylish all her life. She likes to buy clothes, shoes and purses. Georgia loved sports, especially the Chicago Cubs.

Georgia developed the travel bug later in life. She liked to go anywhere that was warm, and traveled to Hawaii, Key West, Aruba, and many other places. Georgia and Matt enjoyed spending the winters on S Padre Island, Texas escaping the Illinois snow. Georgia was a very smart woman who had her income tax, brokerage, and insurance license. In her spare time, Georgia loved to read, and most of all, she loved a good crossword puzzle. She was very proud of her grandchildren and loved being a grandmother.

Georgia will be greatly missed by her four children, Candace (Ted) Peck of New Albin, Iowa, Randy (Sandi) of Savanna, Peg (Gabe) Castro of Savanna, and Lori Law Moshure of Morrison, Illinois; six grandchildren Jessica, Emily, Tim, Samantha, Lizabeth, and Andrew; and six great-grandchildren, Reese, Quinn, Saeed, Rania, Rayanna, and Elijah; and one brother, Gayle Shield of Greeley, Colorado. Georgia precedes her husband Matt in death; her parents, George and Sarah; and nine brothers and sisters.
