Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova “belong” to the European family, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said Wednesday after her meeting with Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili in Brussels.
Papuashvili and Metsola discussed cooperation between the Georgian and European Parliaments and Georgia’s EU integration, the Press Office of the Georgian Parliament announced.
The European Parliament recognizes [Georgia’s] Application for EU membership. Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova are part of the European family,” the EP official said in his comments.
Metsola also stressed that the rule of law, an independent judiciary and genuine parliamentary dialogue are “essential” for democracy.
