DEKALB COUNTY, Georgia (CBS46) – Dekalb police say a 14-year-old girl was safely found after going missing since May 17.
According to police, she was found in Texas.
They posted this message on their Facebook page. “[She] found safe and sound in another state! We are working with other agencies to ensure your safe return to Georgia. Thanks to everyone who shared! #WeAreDKPD “
Her parents sent this statement to Ashley Thompson at CBS46:
“We would like to thank all of our family and friends for their love, support and prayers. We say thank you to everyone who posted and reposted our story to bring it to the public! To all law enforcement agencies involved in the search for our daughter. We thank you! It is our greatest hope and wish that this story pay more attention to the high number of missing children, especially those who look like my daughter. Plus, any missing child is worth the cover. The local news did not cover her story as she was listed as a runaway. There were no yellow warnings etc. This needs to change. Our focus now is on our daughter and on giving her the help and support she needs. Glory to God for the wonderful things he has done. “
