SAVANNAH, Georgia (WSAV) – Former Georgia Southern and Benedictine soccer player Wesley Kennedy is missing, according to his family.
Kennedy’s mother Yulanda Maxwell posted on Facebook that her son had not been seen since 10 a.m. on Sunday and had behaved erratically.
According to Maxwell, the last person known to have interacted with Kennedy was his girlfriend at 8 a.m. Several people told the family that they saw Wesley walking on Dean Forest Road. He was last seen near the post box at 1143 Dean Forest Road.
Kennedy’s phone stopped updating its location around 1:00 p.m. near the Hardin Canal. The shortest distance from Kennedy’s last known address to the canal is about half a mile, but it’s not clear where along the canal the phone stopped updating.
The Garden City Police Department will be the primary agency looking for Kennedy, with Savannah police assisting them. A search party found no trace of Kennedy on Sunday evening, but an SPD spokesman called for a more extensive search by helicopter.
The family urges anyone with information about Kennedy’s whereabouts to contact the police or call 912-572-1711 to get in touch with their relatives. The Garden City PD top line is 912-966-7787.
