A Georgia burrito chain restaurant closed after all staff quit because they had all worked seven days a week for the past month.

“Shop is closed. All the staff [h]how to stop underpaid and [sic] lack of appreciation. We worked 7 days a week for the past month and had hardly any free time. We are so sorry and we love you all! Old Barbs Family, Get Out, ”read a sign at the Macon restaurant location posted on social media by local residents.

As of Thursday, a new sign will be hanging on the restaurant, WGXA reported, explaining the chain’s new temporary opening times, which are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday

“We are sad when an employee leaves the Barberitos family, but we understand that the market has changed and we thank them for their service,” said restaurant spokesman Rob Kremer. He added that the staff’s claim that they worked seven days straight was “just not true.”

“Due to COVID, labor shortages have impacted many, if not all, small businesses across the country. Unfortunately, a local restaurateur hired six of our employees at the same time, ”added his statement.
