Effective April 1, the NCFO agreement provides workers with three days off sick leave this year and the regular four days from 2024; NCFO members may use half-day or full-day paid sick leave. In addition, BRC members have the option to set personal vacation days for sick days. In total, 2,100 Union Pacific workers will reap the benefits.
On February 7, railroad company CSX reached agreements with BMWED and BRC for four paid sick leave days, with an additional three paid personal leave days offered; The agreement also gives workers the option to dedicate unused paid sick leave to their 401(k) or receive it in the form of a payout. On February 10, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) and NCFO joined the agreement; On February 14th, the IAM Roadway Mechanics department and the BRC Carmen for Fruit Growers Express Company department also signed their signatures. Eventually, the other eight unions will also join; Approximately 6,000 workers will currently benefit from the new benefits.
