Georgia Ports Authority employees killed in tools accident

GARDEN CITY, Ga. (WSAV) – A Georgia Ports Authority employee was killed in an equipment accident last week.

According to GPA, the worker died after the accident with a rubber-tired gantry crane in the Garden City Terminal of the port of Savannah.

The worker was a member of the International Longshoremen’s Association Local 1475.

“The Georgia Ports Authority would like to express condolences and concerns to the worker’s family and his brothers and sisters at the International Longshoremen’s Association,” the agency said in a statement.

The GPA Police Department is investigating the death.
