Georgia Anna Baker Oleksa, 96, of Dellslow, died at Mon Health Medical Center on April 30, 2022. She was born on November 30, 1925 in LeRoy, Kan. to the late Roy H. and Margaret Ann Roller Baker.
She was a member of the Brookhaven United Methodist Church and a member of the choir for many years.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother known to many as “Granny Bake” or “Bake”. She created many beautiful needlepoint paintings throughout her life and was an excellent cook and baker, preparing many of the dishes her family loved.
Georgia married Andrew “Jack” Oleksa on November 8, 1945 in Topeka, Kan. They soon moved to Morgantown and lived out the rest of their lives there.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis Brock and Jocelyn Oleksa, Larry Stephen and Cathy Oleksa, and Gary Roy and Pamela Oleksa, all from Morgantown; four grandchildren, Cory (Erin), Tyler (Savannah), Casey (Brianne), and Kenley; and five great-grandchildren, Carson, Claire, Harlan, Reagan, and Sydney. She is also survived by her dog and loving companion, Angel, and also by her right arm, John Sinclair, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to thank their many loving caregivers, including Martha, Brenda and Ashley.
Her parents preceded her in death; her husband Andrew “Jack” Oleksa; and a sister, Devota Baker Whiteley and her husband Charles.
Friends and family will be welcomed at the Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St. Morgantown
4pm-7pm on Thursday 5 May. The visitation will be officiated at Brookhaven United Methodist Church, 219 Brookhaven Road, Morgantown (physical address) from 10 am to the 11 am funeral service on Friday, May 6, with Rev. Wanda Brosky. Burial will be in East Oak Grove Cemetery.
