Georgia Minton Wyatt, 91, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Wilkes Assisted Living in North Wilkesboro. Mrs. Wyatt was born in Wilkes County on September 17, 1929, to William and Alma Minton. Georgia was a Baptist and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a lifelong seamstress and known for her ability to do anything. In the 1970s she sewed clothes for her daughter-in-law and beautiful quilts for her grandchildren. Georgia fondly remembered her days as a switchboard operator at Southern Bell Telephone in Charlotte and her days as a volunteer at Wilkes General Hospital.
Mrs. Wyatt is preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Calvin Mitchell Wyatt, and by her two sons, Danny Michael Wyatt and Gary Mitchell Wyatt.
She is survived by her brother Max Hannon Minton from Wilkesboro; her granddaughter, Carissa Dawn Wyatt, of Nashville, Tenn .; her grandson, Danny Michael Wyatt Jr. of Purlear; her grandson, Danny Christopher Wyatt of Wilkesboro; her great-grandson Brady Michael Wyatt of Wilkesboro; her great-granddaughter, Autumn Claire Wyatt, of Wilkesboro; and loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.
The service will take place on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at Mountlawn Memorial Park. Chaplain Devin Marlow speaks. The family will receive friends at the Miller Funeral Service on the Saturday before the service from 1 p.m. The family would especially like to thank Wilkes Assisted Living and Wake Forest Baptist Care at Home Hospice for their tender care and friendliness towards Georgia in the last months of their lives. We are Dr. Susan Albert and Heidee Lail, RN, eternally grateful. Just knowing that you made Georgia smile just days ago comforts her family. Instead of flowers, you can make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, Chapter Western North Carolina, at https://www.alz.org/northcarolina/donate.
