Georgia Navy
March 19, 1945 – February 10, 2023
It is with great sadness that Georgia Marino’s family announces her death.
Georgia Anne (Burbank) Marino passed away peacefully at home in Fallon, California on Friday February 10, 2023 surrounded by her family. Georgia was born on March 19, 1945 in Berkeley, California to Walt and Annie Burbank. A fourth-generation member of the pioneering Burbank family, Georgia was a devoted and respected member of the Tomales community and the surrounding area.
She attended school in Tomales as a child and graduated from Tomales High School in 1964. Georgia married her high school sweetheart, Terry Marino, and they were married for 57 years, until his death in 2021. Georgia worked alongside Terry in her cattle business as well as raising their children. She was not afraid of any task, including carpentry projects like the preservation of the old house on Gericke Road.
She was a life member of the Tomales Presbyterian Church, serving at various times as trustee, elder, and deacon. She received the Tomales PTA Lifetime Achievement Award and served as PTA President for many years. She volunteered and worked at Tomales Elementary School and has served on many school district committees over the years.
Local history was a passion for Georgia. She was very proud to be a charter member of the Tomales History Center, which began in a single filing cabinet in a local elementary school storeroom. History Center members have worked hard to create an impressive collection of local history. Through a large grant that she helped write and huge fundraisers, they eventually obtained the old high school’s empty auditorium and turned it into an amazing facility to house their collection.
After her children were grown, she returned to school and received her real estate license. She found her calling as a property manager who worked for Century 21 Bunden for many years. She was known for her extreme work ethic and passion for building lasting relationships.
She loved spending time with people. Whether it was a family reunion, Friday night card club, or a haircut, everyone was welcome at her kitchen table.
Georgia is survived by son Jim (Gina) Marino, daughter Lisa (Terry) Willardson, granddaughters, Jamie (Lucas) Charles, Jenna Marino, Taylor Willardson, great-granddaughter Annie Charles, sisters Nancy (Darrel) Freitas, Eileen (Dave) Graybeal, sisters-in-law Jonelle Karcher, Leona Marino, Janie Marino, Joanne Delmas and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Terry, she was preceded in death by her parents Walt and Annie Burbank, sister Annette Burbank, brother Robert Burbank, in-laws Grace Mantua and Leo (Catherine) Marino.
