DECATUR – Georgia Marie Ashe, 71, of Decatur, IL, died on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 with her loving family.
The family will meet friends at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home 2091 North Oakland Avenue on Saturday, December 11th, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Georgia was born in Evansville, IN, to Barbara (Dillen) Epps, stepfather James Epps, and paternal father, George Sheets. She married Rex R. Ashe on September 17, 1975 in Decatur, IL. Georgia worked in the hospitality industry for Eurest at the Caterpillar and ADM locations before retiring. Georgia enjoyed participating in bowling leagues, playing cards with family and friends, and being an avid shopper.
Georgia is survived by her loving husband, Rex Ashe; and daughters: Angela McWhorter Hamlin (Steven Jones) from Altamont, IL, Mindy (James) Henderson from Mt. Zion, IL, Tricia Ashe from Decatur, IL, Bonnie Ashe (Melvin Mallernee) from Decatur, IL, Tina Franklin from Glendale, AZ; Siblings: Pat (Bob) Schoemperlen from Decatur, Sandy Meridith from Williamsville, IL, Randy Gilbert from Decatur, IL, Ralph (Diana) Gilbert from Decatur, IL, and Tammie Kemper from Decatur, IL; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Her stepfather preceded her in death; Father on paternal side; Sister Annette (Michael) Moore; Brother-in-law: Bob Schoemperlen and Michael Moore; Nephew, Adam Gilbert; and great niece Lillie Jo Morris.
