WALTHOURVILLE, Ga. (WSAV/WFLA) — A man was arrested Thursday for allegedly murdering a missing elderly Florida man.
Officials said the investigation began Wednesday when police in Walthourville, Georgia received a request for assistance from the Auburndale Police Department. An 85-year-old man had been missing for two days and officials suspected foul play in his disappearance.

According to Chief Deputy Max Brown of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, the elderly man’s truck was found in an RV in Walthourville at 5540 West Oglethorpe Highway.
Brown said Thursday the man’s body was found along Tibet Road, less than 10 miles from the truck’s location. A suspect was subsequently taken into custody and the crime confessed, the deputy chairman added.
“Hard work, perseverance, and teamwork shared by many different agencies, including the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Investigative Branch and Special Operations Team of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, and the Long County Sheriff’s Office, resulted in the arrest and confession.” by Mr. David Williams for aggravated assault and first-degree murder,” Brown said.
Williams, 30, was taken into custody at his trailer without incident, according to Brown. It is currently unclear whether he will be extradited back to Florida.
Brown said the victim’s name has yet to be released as law enforcement worked to notify close family members.
