A Georgia man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly killing his mother and stepfather, according to a notice from the Oconee County Sheriff.
Peyton Moyer, 20, is being held in the Oconee County Jail after being charged with double homicide and once with child cruelty.
Moyer allegedly killed his mother, identified as 41-year-old Ashley Schultz, and stepfather, 54-year-old Benjamin Smith, Oconee County Sheriff James Hale said.

At around midnight Tuesday, MPs responded to reports of a shooting at a house in Watkinsville, Georgia, where they found Schultz and Smith dead.
Moyer’s 16-year-old and 4-year-old sisters were found unharmed at the house, Hale said.

Moyer, who lived at home with his parents, reportedly fled the scene in one of the victim’s cars and was later arrested by Clarke County Athens Police Department after a brief chase.
Law enforcement did not say what could have led Moyer to commit such a crime.
“Our thoughts and prayers go with the victims’ families and friends,” said the Oconee sheriff’s office, which added that the case is still under investigation.
